Privacy Policy

Draft — this is a first version of our privacy policy and is pending legal review. It is not final.

Last updated: this is a draft awaiting legal review, not a final version. 1. What this covers This policy describes what Lead City Life collects when you use the platform (web and, in the future, mobile) and why. 2. Information we collect - Account and profile information you provide (display name, email, avatar). - Verification information: for student verification, your department, level, course of study, study mode/type, and the registered name you submit for review; for identity verification, information submitted for manual admin review. This is sensitive information — see "How we protect it" below. - Content you create: marketplace listings, service listings, business and event listings, publisher content, and the messages you send to other users through the platform. - Wallet transaction history (credits, debits, and their reasons) associated with your account. - Behavioral usage data: which listings, services, businesses, events, and articles you view, searches you perform, and contact/share actions you take. This is collected to understand how the platform is used and to power moderation/trust-and-safety tools and internal analytics dashboards — it is not sold or shared with advertisers. - Basic technical information needed to operate the platform (session identifiers, device/browser information via standard web request headers) and, briefly, IP-based signals used only to enforce rate limits against abuse (e.g. repeated failed logins or message spam) — these are not retained as a profile of your activity. 3. How we use it To operate the platform's features (marketplace, services, businesses, events/ticketing, messaging, wallet), to review verification requests, to moderate reported content, to detect and prevent abuse, and to understand platform usage through internal analytics. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers. 4. Who can see it - Other users see what you choose to make public (listings, business/event pages, publisher content, your display name/avatar) and the content of conversations you're a participant in. - Moderators and administrators can review verification submissions, reported content, and, where necessary for a support request, related account and transaction records — access is restricted to these roles by the platform's own access-control rules, not left open to every account. - Course Representatives can see the department and level of student verification requests scoped to their own department — never identity/KYC verification requests, and never anything outside their own department. 5. How we protect it Verification documents/data, private messages, and wallet records are restricted so that, by default, only you and authorized moderators/administrators can access them — this is enforced at the database level, not just in the app's interface. 6. Retention We retain your information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. You can request deletion of your account and associated data through Support, subject to records we're required to retain (for example, transaction history relevant to an unresolved dispute). 7. Cookies and local storage The platform uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in — no third-party advertising or tracking cookies are used. 8. Your rights You can request a copy of your information or ask us to delete it through the in-app Support flow. We will respond to reasonable requests. 9. Children The platform is intended for university students and is not directed at children under the age required to be a university student in Nigeria. 10. Changes to this policy We may update this policy as the platform changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date once this moves out of draft status. 11. Contact Questions about this policy can be sent through the in-app Support flow.
